I mean this completely sincerely, living in a college town is absolutely awful if you're not at the college

yeahyeahbeebisii

It is all anyone knows how to talk about. I’m in trade school and my conversations with most people end at “Do you go to the university” “No, I’m in trade school.” “Oh.” Very few people go further than that. Places get randomly swarmed with drunk frat assholes from any number of events. Literally nothing happens all summer. The queer hangouts I frequent barely exist when students are here because again, they get swarmed with frats and sororities.

hey netizens! i'm not sure how many people are aware, but youtube's been slowly rolling out a new anti-adblock policy that can't be bypassed with the usual software like uBlock Origin and Pi-Hole out of the gate

BUT, if you're a uBlock Origin user (or use an adblocker with a similar cosmetics modifier), you can add these commands in the uBlock dashboard (under My Filters) to get rid of it!

youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)

youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

reblog to help keep the internet less annoying and to tell corporations that try shit like this to go fuck themselves <3

also: people are spreading misinformation in the comments saying it's only affecting chromium-based browsers, this is absolutely not true as i discovered this as a firefox-only user! according to multiple news reports it seems they're slowly rolling this out to every user on every browser! i know it's tempting to wanna lord over the other browsers wherever possible but even us firefox users aren't immune to corporate bullshittery.

the word “queer” being used by someone who uses that word to describe their own experience of love and their cherished community should not ever sound the same to you as it does coming out of the mouth of a homophobe. acting like these two types of people are the same is unbelievably cruel

Adding on once again: there is no word for our experiences that has not been used as a slur and isn’t *still* used as a slur.

My mother never said fag but she sure could say “gay” in a way that made it clear that was what she meant 🙃

alarajrogers

“Homosexual” in the mouth of a Southern Republican US Senator is more vile than “faggot” in the mouth of a 50-year-old gay man from Seattle, where they made an attempt at one point to reclaim the word. (Unlike queer, it didn’t really work.)

Hell. “Those people” in the mouth of a homophobic mom to a closeted gay teen is probably fouler than either of those.

Just chiming in here from over on the disability side of things, where we can testify that it doesn’t matter what you call yourself, your terminology will get used as a slur by people who don’t want you to exist because you fuck up their ideas of how the world should be. So, call yourself whatever you want, and don’t yield to the people who don’t care what you’re called, because your greatest crime is existing in the first place.  They’re never going to have a polite word for you anyway.

How long has it been since we were all frustrated at the extremely sexist assumption that women suck at video games and 'men are just better at gaming' was the chauvinist's position? Couple years? Didn't we only just get done spending way too much energy fighting this bullshit?

gallifreyan-ginger-sociopath

It's amazing to me how quickly we've gone back to "women are inferior in every thing in every way and therefore must be protected from big bad Men who are stronger and smarter and faster and better at everything"

And this is somehow called a "feminist" position to take.

part of being an ally to trans men is not being a dick to cis men for their appearance btw

queerpeers

the short trans men hear you. the trans men with bottom growth—or who are post-phalloplasty—hear your bad jokes about small dicks. the trans men undergoing hrt who are losing their hair hear you talk shit about bald spots.

queerpeers

also, hot take, you should care about not hurting random cis men in addition to not hurting trans men. like just because some guy is being an asshole online doesn’t mean the thousands of young boys reading your comments about someone with their same acne deserved it. i don’t care what your reason is, even if you think someone is bad enough to warrant being bullied, who gave you permission to hurt the innocent bystander?

queerpeers

hey y’all should spread this version bc some people need to hear this context

stagbeetleboy

why have us queer people as a community normalized terms like "boygirl" or "girlboy" or other things like that but not like. the actual experience of being multigender. i swear some people will be like "ahaha its so cool and swag to be a #girlboy #boygirl" then turn around and be like "MEN DNI THIS POST IS ABOUT WOMEN" "MEN CANT BE LESBIANS (because no man is ever a woman too)" etc etc like come on guys
